Pocomoke City  dubbed "the friendliest town on the Eastern Shore" and located in Worcester County, Maryland was renamed in a burst of civic enthusiasm in 1878.  It was originally known as Newtown.

Proudly, our town is the center for commerce on the lower shore, home to an industrial park currently playing host to defense contractors, aerospace engineering, and plastics fabrication. Pocomoke City is located near the Wallops Island Flight Facility in Wallops Island, VA.

We have several historic locations including the Sturgis One Room School House Museum, the MarVa Theater, the Costen House, the Beverly Plantation, the Littleton T. Clarke House, the Crockett House, Hayward’s Lott, the downtown historic district, the Puncheon Mill House, and  the Young-Sartorius House, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
