The Board of Directors for the Pocomoke Area Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for recognition and awards recognizing companies, organizations and individuals that have gone above and beyond in their

respective category. The ballots are presented to the Chamber Membership in January following award year. Nominations are carefully considered and voted upon by our Executive Board of Directors in February and the winners are announced at our annual dinner.
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
The Business Person of the Year Award recognizes an individual(s) who demonstrate outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, strategic business thinking and are regarded as leaders in their field. This award also acknowledges and celebrates the personal and generous contributions made and the difference their involvement makes to the local community. Nominations are limited to the Chamber membership and can be self-employed or employed by a business.
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
The Citizenship Award is designed to recognize an outstanding individual or group each year, that demonstrates exemplary service to the Pocomoke community. Our town is fortunate to have a longstanding tradition of
hardworking volunteers and this award recognizes those who have given unselfishly of themselves in service to others. Qualified nominees, must be a resident of Pocomoke or a group located within Pocomoke City but the nominee does not have to be affiliated with the Chamber. Nominees should meet at least two of the following:
(1) Strive to make a positive impact in the community
(2) Enhance the community and the lives of its citizens
(3) Address or fulfill a community need or concern
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes contributions made over the whole of a career, rather than or in addition to single contributions. The award may be given to an individual or may be split between two or more individuals, who have spent a minimum of 10 years making consistent and regular contributions to Pocomoke City. Qualified nominees for this award do not have to be affiliated with the Chamber.
BEST RENOVATION OF COMMERCIAL PROPERTY
This award comes at a time when Pocomoke City is making tremendous strides at improving the quality of the town’s commercial buildings, sidewalks, light fixtures, etc. Qualified nominees, whether individual, group, company or organization, must own, lease or rent a commercial property within Pocomoke City and should display all three of the following:
(1) Renovation began and/or ended within award year (2023)
(2) Enhancement of the appearance, structural integrity and/or use of the property
(3) Maintains to some degree the original design of the property.
BEST NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR
The PACC would like to recognize and award the charity or non-profit that had the widest, positive community outreach in 2023. The organization or group does not have to currently be part of our chamber membership and can be based anywhere in the areas that our chamber serves
.
THE PACC HONORARY AWARD
Each year, the Board of Directors chooses an individual, group or organization to receive our honorary PACC award. This award is not put out for nomination to our membership or community. The award can be in recognition of any achievement, act or service that the Board feels is worthy of commendation from the Chamber.
